For those aged 25 and older, a Nickelodeon question?

Ok, remember when Nickelodeon used to run those little segments about whatever? Like when they had the cat and the hippo playing sports and the cat was a jerk? (I think it was French). Anyway, I recall vaguely there was one 10-or-so minute live action (non-cartoon) segment about this black kid who had a snake named Nigel, and there was a song with it, that sang "Nigel! Nigel!" in 70's kids-chorus fashion? Does this ring a bell with anyone?
